The forecast is still for clear, so this is just to confirm that the Observatory will be open for two viewings tonight: 7:00 and 8:00 pm.

We will post a message here when both a clear night and a volunteer are available to open the Observatory.
Viewing report:
ReplyDeleteWe had splendid views of the Orion Nebula in the large reflector for a small party of hardy visitors.
Jupiter was pretty murky - could not see any banding, just the moons making a nice "string of pearls".
We had decent looks at M79 in Lepus (Rabbit) - not the most spectacular Globular Cluster, but the only available this time of year. \
Also viewed the Owl Cluster in Cassiopeia, spent some binocular time with the Pleiades in Taurus and the Beehive Cluster in the rather empty-looking area of Cancer.
We finished up the evening with M1, the Crab Nebula - a faint supernova remnant that is always a challenge at our site and only possible on our darkest nights.

What kind of objects are you able to see? I have a 12.6 magnitude star (with coordinates) I would like to see.
